Good Afternoon,

Welcome back to Term 2! I hope you all had a wonderful October break and were able to spend some well-deserved quality family time together. It has been so lovely to be back and to see such enthusiastic children who are keen to develop their learning.

From discussions during our Listening and Talking lessons on Monday, the children had some truly fabulous holidays, from days out at the cinema or to the park to holidays at caravan parks and even abroad. During our lessons we have been learning to listen respectfully to others, by listening carefully to clues which help us guess what activities our classmates have participated in. We are also looking to ask different questions to prompt more information.

Inspired by the picture above of an old abandoned house, we continued to think of how we can use adjectives to add descriptive detail to our sentences. After thinking of many different adjectives, we then used them to ‘up-level’(make better) three simple sentence about the house.

We also had a go at creating our own haunted house pictures. We used either cold or warm coloured pencils to create an eerie atmospheric background. Then using black pen, we followed a series of instructions to create a silhouette of the Haunted house.  We think our haunted houses look spook-tacular and are looking forward to using the as inspiration for a spooky story, in writing.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION THIS TERM

Our gym days this term will go back to being on a Tuesday and a Friday and we are looking forward to improving our overall fitness through a series of aerobic activities.

Our ‘Fun-Field' Outdoor Learning will remain on Friday also. As we are getting into the colder and wetter Autumn and Winter days it is very important the children come to school fully prepared to participate in outdoor learning in all weathers! With this in mind, please could children bring with them a change of old trainers or welly boots, waterproof trousers (if they have them)
And most importantly a waterproof jacket. We intend to be outside as much as possible on Friday and will from time to time get a little muddy so we apologise in advance!

Reading will continue to be issued on a Thursday and should be returned the following Monday and spelling homework will be issued weekly on Seesaw.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Miss Yorkston and P3/4
