Good afternoon, what a busy, quick week we have had in P3/4. We started the week by introducing our new topic-The Vikings. We have lots of new learning and activities to look forward to as we cover this interesting topic up to Easter and the children also have some homework tasks that they can now begin linked to this. We have tried to keep the homework tasks as stand along tasks so that you do not need to wait until we have covered the material in class but can complete as and when you choose. We began by looking at timelines, first our personal timeline and then a Viking timeline. This also introduced some key ideas about the Vikings and we look forward to exploring these further.
We will also be holding a Viking sharing afternoon, keep an eye on Seesaw and the school app for upcoming details (this will probably happen on the last week of term once we cover most of the learning/activities in class).

We have also started to focus on multiplication and division in numeracy sessions. This has allowed us to make connections with previous learning and has highlighted the need for reinforcement in learning our times tables. The P3 pupils have recaped the x2,x5 and x10 and I would love ALL pupils to keep playing numeracy games (see Seesaw for suggestions) linked to this skill to quicken/consolidate this understanding. We have looked at x3 pattern and this week we have moved onto x4. Hit the Button has become a class favourite in quickening our recall-why not have a try at home?

In literacy, we have turned our attention to present tense and the use of thought bubbles this week. We looked at when and where we would most likely see and use thought bubbles and tried creating our own. We compared the difference between thought and speech bubbles and look forward to exploring speech bubbles/direct speech further next week.

As you can see we have been busy bees, I hope you have a relaxing weekend and I will see you all on Monday morning again!
Miss Graham
