Welcome to 2024!
What a fun filled year we have in store. Primary 3/4 have quickly settled into routine and are motivated and ready for another session of learning and adventure. I have been so impressed with their growth mindset already and as we have set personal targets in both writing and spelling, we are focused and ready to go!

In topic, we have started our short January theme linked to Scotland on 'Scottish Wildlife'. This caused great excitement in our class and helped to explain our new play area-the SSPCA. We all love animals and can not wait to learn about our local wildlife. We have also started to look at Scots language and have introduced our two poems for our Scotttish Poetry Competition. You will have noticed a new Homework task for the month of January, this includes the two poems which P3 and P4 pupils will be learning in class and at home. I have attached links to a WAGOLL performance and look forward to seeing and hearing from our budding actors/actresses at the poetry recital in a few weeks time where we will select some class winners to perform in front of Mrs McIntosh and in turn she will select a class winner for the Burn's assembly.

In numeracy, we have learnt some new mental maths games to help our mental recall of number facts. We have enjoyed battling against the clock and one another and already have sharpened our skills. Continual practice at home in this is encouraged. We have began looking at subtraction strategies and will continue this in the upcoming weeks.

As you can see, we have been straight down to business and we have been busy bees.
Have a lovely weekend,
Miss Graham
