Good afternoon, what a great end to the week we have had with our Jeans for Genes celebration. We would like to thank Mrs Haddow and Primary 4 for their efforts in organising a super day for us, we enjoyed a wee boogie with the P4s at our denim disco and dress down is always a favourite in P3/4.

This week we have been focusing on the role of work and jobs during the medieval times. We thought about Dunfermline today and compared the types of shops and jobs that were around during the time of Malcolm and Margaret. This was very interesting and we were all able to match the job role and title to jobs in the past.

In numeracy this week, our Primary 4 pupils were comparing and ordering 4 digit numbers and beyond. The place value of the digit is very important when we are putting numbers in order and we learnt about the importance of zero as the place holder in these bigger numbers. The Primary 3 pupils were introduced to the hungry crocodile who likes to eat bigger numbers and we spent time together comparing numbers greater than and less than. Some pupils worked with 2 digit numbers and other pupils challenged themselves to 3 digit numbers in this task. Miss Graham was impressed with both the Primary 3 and 4 pupil's efforts this week in comparing and ordering bigger numbers.

In writing, we used our story of the week about a monster to inspire our creativity for making our own monster descriptions. Most pupils were focusing on using adjectives in their sentences and some pupils were focusing on organising their work into paragraphs using one paragraph to describe the appearance of their monster and the second paragraph to write about their actions.

In your child's school bag today, you will find the Christmas card design that you can select for purchase. Please tick the appropriate box and return next week.
Miss Graham is looking forward to meeting and chatting to the parents on Monday afternoon about how well everyone has settled into the new term.

See you then,
Miss Graham
