Good afternoon,

What a fantastic week. We were incredibly proud of ourselves for such a wonderful performance at the Fife Festival of Music. We sang beautifully and put on a brilliant show. It was lovely to see so many people supporting us in the audience too. The adjudicator gave us lovely comments which was the icing on the cake!

In Literacy, this week we have been focusing on alliteration. We gave ourselves alliterative names and used these during the day. We then got to further practise these skills in Outdoor Learning by writing alliterative poems. We continued our poetry theme in writing too. We wrote an acrostic poem for another person in the class. These poems were really lovely and showed just what a great bunch we are, by highlighting lots of great qualities of our personalities.

In Numeracy, we have continued to work on subtraction. We have been using lots of different methods to work out the answer. We have used Dienes, Numicon and partitioning. We also had a look at using calendars. We had a calendar quiz and showed our skills by recording information for the month of February.

In IDL, we started looking at Scottish Inventions. This week we looked at Alexander Graham Bell and the telephone. We found out lots of facts about Alexander and his life before inventing the phone and made a fact file. We then made our own cup phones and tested them outside. They were a very successful way of sending messages!

We had a visitor to our class this week. Mrs Forrest popped in to talk about Safer Internet Day. She explained how to stay safe when we are playing games online with other people.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday
