Good afternoon,

On Monday, we started to learn our poems for the Burn's Poertry Competition at the end of the month. We got to choose which poem we were going to practise, either 'My Wee Doggie' or 'The Circus'. To help us remember our chosen poem, we created a poetry map. We drew pictures for each part of the poem which helped us visualise each line.

In reading, we have been working on our prediction skills. We looked at the cover of a book called 'Enemy Pie' and tried to guess what might happen in the story. We had lots of super ideas about what might happen in the story. Then we listened to the story to see how close our guesses were.

In Numeracy, we have started looking at different strategies for subtraction. We are using what we already know to help us with bigger numbers. For example, if we already know that 9-4=5 then that helps us work out that 90-40=50! We have been looking at the months of the year in Spanish and have also been learning about using calendars. We did a question hunt in our classroom to show off our new skills.

Miss Yorkston and Mrs Hay challenged us to work out our new topic. They gave us four pictures (a TV, telephone, flushing toilet and an ATM) and we had to try and work out what they all had in common. There was lots of fantastic suggestions. We got to the answer in the end, we will be learning about Scottish Inventors.

There has been a slight change to our timetabling, Outdoor Learning will now be on Thursday afternoons. PE will be staying on a Wednesday and Friday.

Hope you have a lovely relaxing weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday
