Good afternoon,

It has been another bust week in Primary 3. This week we started planning a piece of writing where our toys come alive when we leave the room. We looked at two pieces of writing that described the opening scene of Toy Story. One was definitely better than the other. We highlighted the pieces of writing for things that the author had done well and for things we felt they could have done better. We then had some time collecting the good ideas for when we do the writing ourselves. We are all very excited about planning and writing our own stories next week!

In Numeracy, we have been learning about why it is important to write down our working. We looked at the empty number line method for addition. It was a little tricky but we are definitely getting better with practise.

We were focusing on modern and historic toys this week. We had some time sorting toys into modern toy and toys from the past. There was lots of interesting discussion with one group deciding that games consoles were a toy from the past as their parents had played with them.

This week the highlight was joining Primary 2 to start practising our Scottish Country Dancing. We began learning the Orcadian Strip the Willow. Miss Shearer and Mrs Hay couldn't wait to have a turn! We were pretty good at the steps but we are looking forward to perfecting the dance over the next couple of weeks.

Hope that you have a relaxing weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
