Good afternoon,

This week we have been getting used to our new routines at school. We have introduced our new spelling words and these will come home next week to practise. We played Spelling Showdown to encourage recall of words rather than copying. We talked about how this is more effective in helping us to remember our spelling patterns. In Literacy, we also listened to a book called ‘The Best Parts of Me’. The children in the book talked about their favourite part of their body and then explained why. We chose our favourite body part and then explained why it was so good.

In Numeracy, we have been looking at ordering numbers. We are very good at the numbers before, after and in between. Some of us have even started to look at different number patterns and how that it can help us recognise the pattern. We also looked at measuring in Outdoor Learning. We took metre sticks into the grounds to find things about, longer than and shorter than a metre.

In P.E, we have continued to work on team building. On Wednesday, we completed the class challenge cards. Mrs Hay timed us to complete all the cards as quickly as possible. We saw some people doing some very funny things. We had to all help each other to finish all the challenges. The second time we attempted this we beat our time by 30 seconds! What super team work. On Thursday, we played 'the floor is lava' game. We had to cross the hall using the lava proof mats while keeping ourselves and our teams safe.

We hope you have a fantastic weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
