The children are working on subtraction from 10, 20 and beyond and have looked at tens and ones and the patterns that occur in subtraction and have developed their place value skills. They were able to further develop their subtraction skills in IT where they played a variety of games on Topmarks.
In writing they have written a lovely Colours poem using adjectives to describe their chosen words and have written a good copy to go on a display.
Our sound for phonics this week was the 'ff' digraph and the children managed to come up with a very good list of words that contain the sound.
We started Our Environment topic in Social Studies and have looked at living and non-living things and were able to classify them into groups and explain why they were in these groups.
We looked  at Robbie Burns in our comprehension time and practised our poem the Sair Finger which the children are learning for homework. I am looking forward to hearing them all recite their poem on Monday.
In art we managed to weave coloured strips of paper to make the tartan they investigated in one of our IT slots.
We have continued to develop our fitness and stamina in our PE and the children will try to develop these skills over the next few weeks.
We are making bird feeders next week in preparation for the Big Bird Watch next weekend and are in need of empty yoghurt pots. If you have any could you please send in to school with your child. Thank you.
Have a lovely weekend (hopefully a bit warmer than it
has been!)
