We have continued our learning on measurement this week and have been learning about weight. We have been looking at heavy, heavier and heaviest. Light, lighter, lightest. We have been estimating how many cubes we think an item weighs. Then weighing the item using the balance scales and recording our result.

We read chapter 4 of the Hogheg and were excited to find out that Max has found another crossing place. We been learning the strategy of true, false and can't tell. We have been reading sentences about Max and deciding if they are true or false or we can't tell.

In writing we retold the story of the Messy Magpie. We were trying to use good adjectives to describe the magpie and the forest. In our news writing we have been trying to extend our sentences by using connectives.

It was lovely to see so many parents at our sharing the learning session on Wednesday. The children very much enjoyed sharing their creative dance 'Love the Earth', showing you their 'Wellie Wednesday diary' and sharing the plants they are growing. I hope you enjoyed seeing all the 'Wellie Wednesday' photos.

We have been checking on our science experiment to see if any of our beans have grown. A bean plant has been put in the dark, out in the cold, with no water, too much water and in a sealed bag. No sign yet of any roots. We will look again on Monday.

We have been learning the sound 'igh' this week. The children were able to think of lots of 'igh' words.  We have also been practising the letter 'h' in our handwriting.

'Wellie Wednesday' will be on this week coming. We are hoping to return to the woods 1.20pm-3.00pm. If you are available to help please let me know.

Thursday 5th March is World Book Day. On Thursday please can your child bring in a favourite book to share with the class. On Friday 6th March your child is invited to dress up as a book character.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Elvin
