Happy New Year and welcome back to school for Term 3.  The children have been learning about New Year Resolutions for school and home. Lots of the children have been thinking about being more active by walking, cycling and scootering and by eating more vegetables. They also want to improve their reading, writing and number skills.  We have also been writing about our holidays and everyone was sharing all the lovely things they got for christmas.

In maths this week we have been learning to subtract and we have been consolidating our learning from Primary One by using our different strategies to subtract within 10.

As a reminder gym days this term are the same as last term Monday and Thursdays. Please can you make sure your children have their gym kit and those who are wearing tights please remember socks.

Homework will be learning the poem The Sair fringer by Walter Wingate for the Scottish Poetry Competition. The children are encouraged to think about pace, volume, expression and use of actions to help tell the story. The children are to be ready to share this poem to the class on Monday 20th January.  Mrs MacIntosh  will listen to three finalists on Thursday 24th January. The winner will recieve a certificate at assembly on Friday 25th January.

Hope you have a lovely weekend
Mrs Elvin
