Good afternoon everybody.

The children really enjoyed the Halloween weekend and those who took part really enjoyed themselves. We did manage to settle back down on Tuesday and worked really hard to complete our tasks.

We looked at sight this week as part of our senses topic. We experimented with blindfolds to see if we could use our sense of touch to guess what was in our covered tray. We also experimented with covering one eye and tried to drop a coin into a cup. It wasn't easy using one eye so we decided two eyes are better than one. Wwe discussed the importance of guide dogs for visually impaired people and the children pretended to be guide dogs and handlers in their play sessions.

We practised adding numbers to a 10 this week by focussing on changing only the ones column and keeping the tens column the same. We have looked at what manipulatives help us the best (cubes, Numicon, number lines and fingers) to see what works best for each individual.
The Sumdog Fife Challenge started today. It would be great if your child could take part at home to help us get a good result.

For indoor PE, we set up fitness stations and the children are going to work on developing their stamina over the next few weeks.

We have made lovely posters to help with safety aspects around bonfire night. The children are very aware of what to do to stay safe while watching firework displays. I hope you enjoyed seeing their posters on Seesaw. We also looked at the story of Guy Fawkes.

Our Drawing Club looked at Are Dinosaurs Dead, Dad? by Julie Middleton. The children chose their dinosaur and drew what the habitat looked like. They then wrote about their dinosaur. We are looking at using and to join two sentences together.

It was far too wet on Wednesday to do our Outdoor Learning so we stayed indoors and made lovely homes for our stone pets. The children are very proud of their results.

The children made lovely firework pictures today. They are very colourful.

The children have brought home their Christmas cards/mugs etc today. I hope you like them. I am really impressed with them all.

Have a lovely, safe Bonfire weekend.
Miss Shearer
