We came back this week with lots of stories about the holiday weekend. It sounds like there have been lots of exciting activities to celebrate the Jubilee.

This week we have been investigating minibeasts. We went on a microhabitat hunt in the school ground and because it had been raining, we found lots of snails! We also discovered webs, compost bins and saw lots of cracks and crevasses that held beetles and ants. We had a worm day too. We did research on worms and wrote notes about our research. We discovered all sorts of fascinating facts like worms breathe through their skins! We also had a go at 'worm charming' in outdoor learning to get worms for our wormeries!

In Literacy this week, Fred Frog came to teach us the ‘ir’ sound. We were very good at blending the ‘ir’ sound words and writing sentences with them. We also got to play games to practise this sound. We have also been working on alphabetical order. We are super at spotting the first sounds in words and putting the words in the right order.

We have been looking at fractions in Numeracy this week. We have been focusing on equal pieces and quarter. We are super at spotting if the pieces are equal or not! We have also been looking at shapes and checking to see if they have been cut into halves or quarters.

Hope you have a lovely weekend and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday.
