Good afternoon,

Highlights this week centred around our interest in `Minibeasts'.

We started this week by sharing the story `What the ladybird heard' by Julia Donaldson. It was an excellent reason to practise our sight vocabulary and play a few more games of `Beat the Bomb' as we raced to read as many common words before the bomb set off an array of noisy fireworks. The children are very proud to see their score going up as we are getting faster.

We also developed our `Reading For Information' skills as we shared the non-fiction text, `Minibeast Alphabet'. As well as practising alphabetical order by predicting the next mini-beast to feature, we also practised using headings, labels, the contents and index pages.

On Wednesday on our Walkabout session, we then used what we had learned to identify minibeasts in the woods.

Have a lovely weekend
