Good afternoon,

A highlight this week was reaching the Daily Mile Destination of Brazil. We used a non-fiction book entitled, `Brazil for Kids, People Places and Cultures’ by Speedy Publishing, to learn lots of interesting facts about Brazil. The children particularly enjoyed seeing a photograph of the tree named Brazilwood, with its blood red features and from which the country`s name was derived.

Another highlight this week was having a visit from HSBC to introduce our money topic. We learned what money is, why we need money, how we get/earn money, the notion of saving money and earning interest in the bank, that money takes various forms e.g coins, notes, cards and vouchers and that coins, notes and vouchers have different values.

We took advantage of the beautiful weather this week to learn about Spring.  Before going outdoors to look for signs of Spring, we found information from non-fiction texts so that we knew what we were looking for. We were not disappointed. We found lots of signs of Spring in our school garden, around the school grounds and in our school field. This Spring scavenger hunt provided a real purpose and context for advancing our Digital Technology skills as we each practised taking a photograph. I hope you enjoyed looking at these with your child on Seesaw this week.

May the sun continue to shine for us this weekend,
Mrs.Davie and P1a
