Good afternoon,

The highlight this week was sharing the books in our `Bookbug Primary 1 Family Bag’.  The P1 bag is produced by Scottish Book Trust in conjunction with Education Scotland and the Scottish Government as part of Read, Write, Count and is a gift for every Primary 1 child in Scotland in celebration of Book Week Scotland.

Before reading, we practised all of the taught sounds and words we would need in order to read the books : s a t n I p e r h m d c k  and  a, am, it, is ,in, at, am, an, as, and, can, had, has, him, mum, dad.
First we read Inch and Grub by Alastair Chisholm and David Roberts, an amusing  story about cavemen and sharing. Then we enjoyed learning, alongside Arlo the Lion, how to help ourselves get to sleep in the story `Arlo. The lion who couldn`t sleep’ by Catherine Rayner. Finally we discovered lots of facts in the non-fiction book, `My First Book Of Woodland Animals’ illustrated by Zoe Ingram.

The children are very excited to share these books again at home with you this weekend and to do some of the activities in the `Activity Booklet’. They are also looking forward to having their say by voting for their favourite book in `The Bookbug Picture Book Prize’, using the postcard at the back of the `Activity Booklet’.

Have a lovely weekend,
Enjoy the stories,
Mrs.Davie and P1a.
