Good afternoon,

With great perseverance we arrived at the Daily Mile Destination of India this week. In class we discovered lots of interesting facts about India and agreed that if you are an animal lover then it is the most exciting country to visit. From crocodiles, tortoises, frogs and dolphins to lions, tigers, elephants, bears and pandas, India has them all.

In Literacy this week, we completed the second set of letter sounds and are therefore able to recall the sounds made by the letters: s,a,t,n,I,p,e,c,k,r,m,h , write the letters and read and write the high frequency words: a, at, as, an, am, in, is, it, can, had, him, his, and, dad. Next week is consolidation week in which we practise and consolidate what has been taught.

In Numeracy we learned all about the number 8. We learned how to form number 8 correctly, its position in the number line, the add facts for 8 and to count accurately and record totals using the scoring out strategy.

In Science we are continuing to learn about Autumn and how living things depend on each other for survival. We became aware of migration and hibernation, and how they are driven by the animals need for food.

On Thursday we discussed Remembrance Day, took part in the minute silence and created beautiful poppy artwork.

Have a lovely long weekend,
Mrs.Davie and P1a
