Good afternoon,

Ted has had another fabulous week at work in the school office and now that we are all able to read , record and show the time in whole hours on analogue and digital clocks, Ted has been much more punctual! His help has been invaluable and Mrs.Walker and Mrs.Spence said that thanks to Ted, all of their extra jobs have been completed and Ted doesnt need to help anymore but can stay with us in class! He celebrated his last day with tea and cake!

With the RSPB big schools birdwatch in February, we have begun to learn to identify the different types of birds. We have been developing our skills in finding information in non-fiction texts as we learn about the different types of birds. We are also using what we learn about both the birds and the features of a non-fiction text to create our own `First Book Of Birds` identification book.  We are looking forward to using our books to help us identify the different types of birds in our birdwatching sessions.

After cleaning our school garden last week, we decided to make apple feeders this week for Outdoor Learning, in the hope of attracting birds. Next week we are going to create a bird hide, make our own binoculars and practise identifying birds.

On the same theme of `birds`, we are becoming more confident in reciting our Scots poem,`Robin Reidbriest`,in preparation for the competition on Wednesday and Thursday next week.  Together we created a success criteria to support us with our practice. We decided that to be successful at reciting the poem we should: know all of the words, speak in a loud clear voice, not speak too quickly and entertain, perhaps by adding some actions. This is the criteria we will use for judging. We are looking forward to listening to each other next week.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie, Ted and P1.
