Good afternoon,

Biscuit has been continuing to go to work in the office each day and we have the responsibility to make sure we take him there on time and pick him up and bring him back to class at the right time also. This has given us lots of opportunities and a strong purpose to learn how to tell the time. We have been learning to tell the time on an analogue clock as this is what we have on our classroom wall. We have also been learning to work out durations in whole hours as we talk about how many hours he must work each day. At the end of the week we received an email from the office giving Biscuit new working times. The time was written in digital form so we have begun learning to read and write the time in digital form.

In literacy we have been learning to recognise, form and use the letters; j, z and w. We also learned to read and spell the words `just`, `will`, `we` and `went`.
The children are continuing to enjoy reading their simple sentence reading books and are working hard to point to each word as they look at it.
In listening and talking most of the children can now recite their Scots poem and are now working on including actions in order to entertain their audience. We decided that a good poetry recital should include all of the words, should be spoken in a medium volume voice (not too quiet and not too loud), should be spoken in a medium pace (not too fast and too slow) and should have some actions. We also decided that you should look at your audience when you speak. We are looking forward to the recital competition on Burns Day.
In writing we have been learning to write in a sentence. We are practising this skill as we create our very own Bird Spotters Book to support our RSPB Schools Big Garden Birdwatch at the end of February.

In Music we have been practising our songs for The Fife Festival of Music which takes place on Wednesday 1st February. I hope to see some of you in the audience at The Vine Conference Centre, you will be in for a treat!

Have a lovely weekend.
