Dear adults,
We started the week with a very exciting letter from Mrs.Kernohan and Mrs.Walker in the office. It asked us to allow Biscuit to help out in the office each day from 10 o`clock to 1 o`clock initially. As we didnt know how to tell the time, we realised the need to start learning how to do it. So this week we have been learning to tell the time in whole hours ( o`clock ) on an analogue clock but as we noticed that some clocks are digital, we will learn how to tell the time on digital clocks also.
Phonics consolidation week has been successful and many of the children have been telling me how much they are enjoying the games on the Seesaw Phonic Consolidation, Week 3 page. Next week we will learn to read and write the letters : j, z and w and read the common wotds ; just, will, went and we.
We were excited to be reading reading books with words this week and we were practising the skill of pointing to each word as we are looking at it. We hope you enjoyed hearing your childs reading last night. As always reading books should be returned to school on a Monday to enable a rotation of books.
This week we also learned how to write a sentence. After reading, `Theres a shark In The Park' by Nick Sharratt, we had a go at creating our own guessing book. We each shared our guess as a written sentence and enjoyed finding out what was really behind the rest of the page.
As part of our listening and talking curriculum, we have been learning to recite the Scots poem, `Robin Reidbriest`, by J K Annand. We practise each day and many of the children know the whole poem already. We will continue to practise each day until the competition on Wednesday 25th January.
On Friday we  found out that we are taking part in the RSPBs Big Schools Birdwatch and worked hard to prepare our garden for attracting birds.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie, P1 and Biscuit.
