Good afternoon,
This week in literacy we were learning the sounds made by the letters c, k, h, and e. As well as learning to recognise them , we learned how to write them and to use them to spell simple 2 and 3 letter words. The new high frquency (aka common words) focused upon were: can, his and he.
Using our reading books this week, we continued to learn how to tell a story by looking at the pictures for information and to look at the front cover then the left page before the right. We were also learning how to make accurate predictions by making links to what we had already seen.
In writing we had an opportunity to use what we had learned about writing lists to write a list of the things we need to buy in order to make our Christmas Fayre items. Mrs Kernohan and Mrs.Walker in the office will be busy placing our orders.
In maths this week we were using ordinal numbers and identifying `how many?', in regular and irregular dot patterns without counting,  strengthening our understanding of numbers. In mental maths the children have worked on recalling number bonds to 5 and on adding 1.
In Health and Well-being the children learned about the importance of healthy teeth and the ways to keep their teeth healthy. The Dental Inspection team visited on Thursday and the children were proud to take home a new toothbrush and toothpaste.

The most exciting highlight of the week was of course our Sing Along with The McDougalls. A very good time was had by all. The children all participated enthusiastically in all of the singing and dancing. If you get a chance to see them at the Carnegie Hall this December you will not be disappointed.

Have a lovely weekend.
Mrs.Davie and P1.

P.S For the remainder of this term the children will not need to wear outdoor learning clothes or bring wellies on a Friday. Instead they should wear their P.E clothes. This is due to us now using this time to undertake valuable Nativity practice.
