Good afternoon,
This week we benefited greatly from our Phonics Consolidation Week. Those children who were not able to recognise the taught sounds: a, t, s, n . i and p focused upon these. They played matching pairs, lotto, roll and cover and hunt the letter highlighting games. The children who were able to recognise the sounds spent the week reading and writing 2 and 3 letter words. Next week the children will be taught three new sounds; h, ck and e.

In maths the children have been transferring and applying their number to 5 knowledge to add to 5 and to complete missing number add sums, e.g  3+2= ,
4+?=5 . I am very impressed by the amount of children who can complete these operations mentally already.

In Health and Wellbeing we used the stimulus of our baby photos to become aware of our growing bodies and to become aware of the tasks required to look after a baby.

In IDL we are becoming aware of how local shops provide us with what we need in our daily lives and of the other ways we shop. We were especially excited to learn about Christmas markets and that our class will become providers too as we create and sell items at our own Christmas market, i.e The Canmore Christmas Fayre. In our writing lesson we learned what a list looks like and we all created our own lists of suggestions of what we might create and sell on our stall.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie, P1 and Biscuit.
