Good afternoon,
The highlight this week was learning about each of our 5 senses and playing games to put them to work.

On Monday we learned about the sense of sight. We shared a rhyming story called Shark in the Park, where the character Timothy Pope mistakes things he sees through his telescope for a shark. We then enjoyed playing our own `What's behind the binoculars game?` on the interactive smartboard and discovered we were much better than Timothy at guessing what was being revealed!

On Tuesday we learned about the sense of hearing. We joined in with the repetitive elements  (as well as making the sound effects of course) of the story, `Peace at Last` before playing our own listening games.

On Wednesday we learned about the sense of touch, enriching and developing our vocabulary as we described what we could feel in the feely bag.

On Thursday we listened to a story about a group of dogs who were using their fabulous sense of smell to hunt for eggs. We had to listen and focus on the story as we were given the memory building challenge of remembering the names of all of the dogs. We then undertook our own smelling challenge.

Finally on Friday we learned about the sense of taste and enjoyed using our sense to guess the flavours of some tasty crisps! It turns out that I am the best teacher in the whole world ! Who knew?

Have a super weekend.
Mrs.Davie, P1 and Biscuit the dog.

P.S Look out for P1 Homework booklets entitled `First Steps In Learning`, coming home in bags tonight. The children have become familiar with the activities over their first couple of weeks and will enjoy playing with you at home.
