Good afternoon,
We started our week by looking at the busy June calendar page and noticed that it was Fathers Day on Sunday. We then created a Fathers Day card where we incorporated our dads' hobbies, interests or favourites and used our best handwriting to include a message in the inside.
We read a couple of lovely stories about dads and shared with each other what we like to do with our own dads.
Many children talked about buying a Fathers Day gift for their dads. This provided a relevant and purposeful context in which to learn about money. We learned about different methods of paying for gifts and then learned to recognise 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins. Some children will benefit from a bit more practise by looking at coins with you at home.

The highlight of our week came on Thursday when we shared a special afternoon on the field with our buddies, playing games, dancing, chatting and of course snacking! We all thanked them for being there for us this year and wished them all the best for high school!

We concluded the week with a virtual `Meet the teacher' and are looking forward to working with Mrs.Elvin in P2.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs.Davie and P1.
