This week P7A have been extremely focused and worked well towards their personal targets showing increased determination and confidence across the curriculum.

In maths all pupils have shown significant progress writing fractions as decimals and percentages, adding fractions with common denominators and improving their speed at converting mixed fractions to top heavy and vice versa.  A lot of thinking steps required when working in this area of maths - well done everyone - we will look at number machines and equations next.

In our reading we have made our way to Chapter 7 in Goodnight Mr Tom and watched excerpts from the movie alongside the novel. Pupils have written their own newspaper articles and postcards linked to chapter content.  Pupils have also been learning about the ARP Blackout Warden role, the role of women in the war and the importance of radar in the war effort. This has linked to lessons on circuit building and morse code and even a little sewing!!. We look forward to learning more about the war next week.

Thank you so much to Mr McLean who came into class on Tuesday to share his experiences of working for a major retailer in the UK (Tesco) and to discuss the wide range of careers an employer of this type can offer. The class heard first-hand about potential career choices available to them in the future.. Thank you from the whole P7 cohort for your time and support – as well as the egg-shaped chocolate gifts!

Your child has also participated in a creative dance workshop where they linked a series of movements. Look out for these on SEESAW.

In our ICT this week we have focused on Comic Making and your child has the option to continue their learning at home and create a home comic using the software here Create Your Own Comic Strips Online with MakeBeliefsComix please share on SEESAW.

In other news, we are delighted to have received some chess sets from friends of the school. This will allow all the pupils a chance to engage in the strategy game - thank you to those who arranged the donation or donated.

Our football team played in a tournament at St. Columbas. They were undefeated throughout the event - well done!  An advance reminder we require parent support to walk pupils to this type of event so please contact the office if you are available to help.

Our Rotary team had a great time on Tuesday night. It was an exciting experience and we were so chuffed to come 3rd with only 1 point in it. Masterton PS 2nd and Duloch the overall winner who will host the competition next year.

Congratulations to Jake King our social target winner this week.

Have a lovely weekend.
