Thank you for joining us here on the app for the latest round up of P7A news

This week started off with a focus on the school values Responsibility, Resilience and Respect. In P7 your child has the opportunity to apply for Junior Leadership roles such as Head/Deputy Boy/Girl, House Captains and Vice Captains. All successful applications will proceed to an interview stage over the next few weeks. Please support your child with the Head Boy & Girl application form they have home with them. This has also been uploaded to SEESAW

To support applications for Junior Leadership roles we used our lessons to prepare a poster reflecting positive choices and being responsible. We discussed qualities and characteristics and the class learned how to sell themselves on an application form and in an interview. This will hopefully help them in their Junior Leadership applications and make the experience enjoyable and stress free!

In addition to JLT positions pupils also get the opportunities to join Eco, Pupil Council, and Junior Sport Leader committees.

On Monday we will be voting for a class Eco Rep. Please support your pupil with a one minute pitch on why their class mates should vote for them this Monday 5th.  Good Luck everyone.

In our number work pupils improved their understanding of time and were given a homework task through sumdog to refresh and reinforce their learning.  All pupils have been given the opportunity to participate in the annual Scottish Mathematical Challenge. We will post pupil entries the week beginning 26th September to ensure they arrive in time for marking. More details here wpr3.co.uk/MC/p-guid.html

In RME we learned about a traditional Chinese creation story. Over the course of the term we will learn about other creation stories and discuss their content and themes.

Our outdoor game play in gym continues to develop team skills including fair play, communication and of course general fitness.

Please ask your child about their STEM lessons this week. We are exploring natural disasters linked to our topic CHINA with a focus on climate change, tsunamis and floods. Children completed an experiment to create a building that could survive a flood. We all got a little bit wet! but it was a lot of fun with fantastic discussions between the groups on their designs.  Next week we will be learning a little more about the Pacific Rim, volcances and earthquakes.

The sun shone on the pupils as we observed the Tornado fly past. I was very proud of our class as the observed it with members of the community up on Evershed Drive.  A very respectful moment. Well done P7.

Congratulations to Ishbel Smithson and Mirren Martin our social target winners this week.

Next week I look forward to welcoming you to our classroom on Friday 9th September at 2.30pm (before the PTA Fayre.)

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Watt
