Our pupils have ended the term on an absolute high with a China themed games day. Pupils were set homework to complete edible slime, research tasks and impressively make games from recycled junk. Lots of fun was had and lots of learning too!

Our special visitor this week was Janet Lowe from the Carnegie Rotary Club who shared her experience working with the Rotary Club to raise awareness about Polio.  Pupils learned lots of new facts and are looking forward to returning in Term 2 and getting involved with the district competitions in writing, photography, art and animation.

In our Maths, we explored division and looked at strategies including subtraction, addition, rounding and estimation.

Our writing work has been exceptional and over the term the handwriting and presentation of work has been a focus. So many pupils now writing with joined script - well done everyone.

In STEM our flight training has begun. The Discover Challenge in the Air Race Challenge is under way with pupils asked to research aeronautic careers. We have also begun the Create challenge where pupils are to design a drone obstacle course to navigate.  We will welcome our pupils back to 'Canmore Topgun' in Term 2 - the best of the best!

Next term we will change our project focus onto World Conflicts starting with Remembrance Sunday.

We welcome the Royal Navy back for a STEM session on Tuesday 25th Oct with an input from one of their helicopter engineers - pupils are going to love it!
If you are having a tidy out over the holidays please keep aside and donate any lego/pencils/rubbers/books for our class library. We would also welcome any autumn decorations/ halloween for the week of the school disco - remember to get your child a ticket for this terrorific and spooktacular night! Mr Morgan and myself will be attending!

Congratulations to Katie Winski, our social target winner.

Wishing you all a lovely holiday fortnight - if you do get away somewhere nice, please bring back a souvenir so we can display these in class and share our experiences of travel.
