P7a writing has impressed myself and the school leadership team. Persuasive letters to request new clubs at the school were written to and read by Alex Bird our Active Schools co-ordinator who I am delighted to say ran our first Canmore Football team session today.

Emily and Gemma wrote persuasive letters to Mrs Howie to request a Jammies Day and she was so impressed, she has agreed to P7a having a Pyjama day before the holidays.  I will send out details of this once we have confirmed a date. (pupils will come to school in their school clothes and change into Jammies/onesies (if they wish) and then change back towards the end of the day).

Next week our Literacy lessons will have a poetry focus and will develop the application of similes and metaphors within the context of Chinese Animals.

In our Place Value lessons we have reinforced multiplying by 10, 100, 1000s and moved onto multiples of 10s in a two step process for example 254x30 (we break the sum into parts e.g  245 x 10 then times by 3) or indeed multiply by 3 and then 10 :)

In our China project, our focus for the week will be on the 12 signs of the zodiac as the children continue to create their displays and learn about symbolism which links nicely with their writing.

A huge thank you to parents who provided tissues for the class - they have been well received by children with runny noses! It's that time of year where the weather is so changeable that viruses run amock with our immune system. - thank you!

We intend on introducing the daily mile on days we do not do P.E so I've reminded pupils to wear a suitable cosy jacket.

We have celebrated the appointment of Mason Walker as our Sports Committee Representative, Eilidh Gormley as Eco Representative, Sofia Breeze as JRSO and Ellis Breeze as Pupil Council Representative.

They join the YLT to help support our school values.

I am also delighted to share news of the successes of P7a achieving their social target again as a whole class and have received as a reward from Mrs Howie an EXTRA BREAK!! P7a were extremely excited to tell me our class had won the treat once again this term!  We will use this at some point next week.

Finally as a little tribute to Roald Dahl day, the children have home with them a small personal postcard from myself to wish them happy reading.  I am a fan of stories and fondly recall my class teacher reading James and the Giant Peach to me in P4.  I hope all the children have enjoyed learning a bit more about Roald Dahl today and I look forward to Monday with all the exciting learning opportunities planned.

Have a relaxing weekend
