The very final term at Canmore for our P7’s has started. The countdown to high school is suddenly very real for the children as earlier this week we discussed just how full of learning and how busy we will be throughout term 4.

Our week has already been busy. On Tuesday, we had a visit from the Royal Navy Attract team who ran a series of workshops on engineering and team-building skills. As part of this, the pupils were tasked in designing an air propelled rocket. We launched these outside and were thrilled with the results. Many of them got so high that they never quite made it back to the ground and are currently resting on our roof! Please check out the photos on SEESAW.

On Wednesday, Matthew White from Dunfermline Rugby Club came into school to deliver a taster touch rugby session. Matthew will be returning on Wednesday afternoons over the next 3 weeks to continue working with the pupils. Please ensure your child has appropriate clothing as this will be outside on the field (Change of trousers, socks and footwear for re-entering the school is expected).

Our new mini-topic about the Olympics has started. This summer the Olympics will be held in Paris and we have started to learn all about them by first looking at the history of where they started 2800 years ago! We have already learned some interesting facts and will continue to learn more in our research-based topic as the next few weeks continue.

Ouch! – it hurts a little to say it but this week on Wednesday I turned 60! Normally, my birthday falls during the Easter school holiday but this year it was an absolute privilege to share it with the whole P6/7 and P7 cohort. Thank you so much to everyone for your efforts, kind birthday wishes and gifts from the children, and making my day feel so special.

I know that I am looking forward to a rest this weekend after our busy week and I hope that you too enjoy a restful and relaxing weekend with lots of family time together.

Mr. Morgan.
