Good afternoon and welcome to our weekly catch-up.

Monday morning brought lots of very tired looking faces and weary pupils into class as we returned back to school after our week away at Ardroy Outdoor Education Centre. This is testimony to just how much they enjoyed their week away and the amount of energy they expended, hill climbing, canoeing, abseiling and exploring the great outdoors. They had a super time and learned lots. In both Art and Literacy this week we have had Ardroy related activities. It’s hard to believe that an entire week has already passed from when we returned!

Also in Art, we have been studying how to identify and use details in our artwork. We have started a Scottish Landscape and a streetscape scene this week. If your child is one of those who wished to take their work home on Thursday to complete, please can they take a photo of the completed artwork for Seesaw.

In topic, we have learned about Operation Fortitude and Operation Overlord, the latter being more well-known as D-Day. Operation Fortitude was all about how the Allies use fake news, model boats, inflatable tanks and trucks etc, to help fool the enemy ahead of the main invasion. The class were particularly interested in just how big the invasion was. Please ask them all about their learning so far.

In Literacy, we have also had a focus on Reading Comprehension and the skill of how to summarise visual and written texts.

Red Nose Day 2024 was celebrated earlier today. It was nice to finish off the week with some jokes and fun whilst helping to raise funds for such a worth cause. Thank you to everyone for their efforts.

It was lovely to meet some of you at Parent Contact on Tuesday and I look forward to meeting more of you next week on Monday or Wednesday afternoon.

Congratulations to Harry who is this week’s social target winner.

I hope that you all have a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Mr. Morgan.
