Welcome to our latest weekly update.

In topic this week, we have been looking the Blitz, the Battle of Britain and how ‘so much is owed by so many to so few’ – (Winston Churchill). The class have looked at the types of fighter planes and technology used by both sides and how the battle was won.

The Blitz was the theme for our artwork too and I hope you enjoyed seeing their work on Seesaw. Additionally for Art, we have completed our still life study of apples and how to use highlights, mid-tones and shadows to make them look more realistic.
Mrs Howie was so impressed she shared examples at Reconnector this morning.

For our writing, we have continued to work on instruction writing and how we ensure a clear message.

We will be attending a DHS cluster Scottish Country Dance Festival in a few weeks on the 23rd of February and on Thursday we started to learn how to dance ‘Strip the Willow’. After an uncertain start, by the end of our extended PE session we were spinning and skipping our way through the dance. Lots of smiles and red cheeks by the end of the lesson.

On Wednesday we enjoyed an afternoon of games with our P1 buddies. It was lovely to spend some time with them.

In numeracy, we have continued to work on developing our understanding of fractions of amounts. Next week we will look at equivalent fractions.

Congratulations to Connor Huish who is this week’s social target winner.

I hope that you all have a wonderful weekend and I will catch-up with you once again in a week or so after the mid-term break which starts on Wednesday next week.

Mr. Morgan.
