Welcome to our weekly catch-up.

This week has had a real Scottish feel to it. We have been looking at the Scot’s language by creating comic strips about a real icon of Scotland – ‘Oor Wullie’. We have also had our class recitals of Burns poetry and selected three class representatives to go forward to recite to Mrs Howie – congratulations to Murray, Cameron and Lewis for their wonderful efforts. A big thank you too to everyone else who put themselves forward and their contributions to our class recital.

On Thursday, on Burn’s Day, we enjoyed a little Scottish Dancing and a few Scottish nibbles in the afternoon. It was nice to see so much tartan.

In Topic this week we have been looking back at the tragic events of WWII and looking at what the Holocaust was. Please ask you child all about their learning in this area as tomorrow (27th of January) is Holocaust Memorial Day 2024. The class were shocked at man’s inhumanity to others but also moved by how the liberators of the camps and the survivors supported each other then and in the years that followed. The main message from this week’s learning was one of remembering the lessons of the past by never letting anything like this ever happen again.

Congratulations to Lewis Young who, as well as being selected for the recitals, has also been selected as this week’s winner of our Social Target Award.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Mr. Morgan.
