Good afternoon and welcome to our weekly catch-up once more. The theme of the week has been one of visitors to class or to school.

On Monday, a representative from Robertson Construction came to our reconnector session to discuss keeping safe and the possible dangers of being on a building site. The houses currently being built across Aberdour Road within the grounds of the old Pitcorthie Primary School may be tempting for children to have a look at, but the message was clear that children should stay off the site and keep themselves safe. A challenge to create a safety poster was posted on our Seesaw activities page and several members of the class created some wonderful submissions with that clear message very prominent in their design. Well done to all who rose to the challenge.

On Tuesday afternoon, we had Douglas Hill back in school to lead another hockey session. Once more I was very impressed with the effort the children were putting into the session. Dougie will be back again closer to the October break where he will work with a more focussed group with the view to selecting a Canmore team to take part in a hockey festival at the start of November. He was finding it quite difficult to make any initial selections as there were just so many good players. What a great position to be in!

On Wednesday, we had a visit from PARS Tackle Health who came into class to talk about the need for a healthy lifestyle and diet. Thank you to the staff of the DAFC school engagement team, the PARS Foundation coaching staff and the Dunfermline Athletic football team players who came along. The children were very impressed by Taylor, his work ethic and awareness of health matters as he explained his daily and weekly routines to keep fit and eat healthily to ensure his place on the team. The class were quite surprised at just how hard a player must work to be a successful footballer.

On Thursday, we had a visit by Mr Dodds from the Modern Language Department of Dunfermline High School who came into class as part of the liaison between DHS and their cluster schools to lead a Spanish lesson. The children were just so enthusiastic, had a great time and could not wait until he returns for his next lesson.  Mr Dodds will be joining our class again in a few weeks’ time.

We finished off the week by recognising and supporting Jeans for Genes Day. This afternoon, we walked around the playground with our P1 buddies as part of the 6000-step challenge to help highlight the 6000+ genetic conditions that need supported by our fundraising. Well done to all but particularly those helping their buddies as they only have little legs and its quite a target to aim for. We gave it our best shot at completing the challenge.

Your child has brought home with them today their Christmas artwork – yes, I did just say Christmas! If you are interested in purchasing anything, please carefully read and follow the instructions on the unique order forms. Some super pieces of art were created.

Congratulations to our Social Target winners this week who are Katie and Natalia who were leading by example and helping to keep the class environment safe and ready to learn in.

I hope that you all have a relaxing weekend and enjoy some well-deserved family time together. I look forward to meeting up with some of you at the first of our parent contact sessions on Monday afternoon.

Mr. Morgan.
