Welcome to our regular Friday catch-up.

A huge congratulations to all those who were selected to become members of our House Leadership Teams. Presentations were made to the various houses during our reconnector time and feedback from pupils and staff was that these were of a very high standard with lots of confidence on display. The successful candidates found out who the House Captains, Vice-Captains and Ambassadors were on Tuesday with this news shared with the wider school community at reconnector earlier today. Well done to everyone who put themselves forward for consideration.

We have welcomed Miss Hunter to class this week who will be joining us in P7 for the next 10 weeks.

In topic this week, we have been looking at what a Tsunami is, how it is caused and how the people of Japan prepare for and react to a Tsunami. The children were fascinated by just how big these ‘Harbour Waves’ (Japanese meaning of the word Tsunami) can become and just how destructive they are. Please ask your child about their learning, I’m sure they will love to share their new knowledge with you. Our artwork was also linked to Tsunamis as we have started to recreate the famous Japanese painting ‘The Great Wave’. We will post any completed pieces on Seesaw very soon for you to see.

In literacy, we have been improving our use of adverbs and adjectives at the opening of a sentence and in numeracy we have been consolidating our understanding of the value of numbers. Also in numeracy, we have continued to work on quick recall of our x8 table.

We have enjoyed an active week with three sessions of sports or physical activities. On Tuesday, Douglas Hill held a hockey session where the class participated in a few short games against each other. We have some talented players in class!  Today, we were visited by senior pupils and staff from Dunfermline High School who led the class through a session on Rugby skills.

Next week, on Friday the 22nd of September, we look forward to participating in Jeans for Genes day. More details will be forwarded to you next week.

Congratulations to Lewis RA Young who is this week’s social target winner.

I hope that you all have an enjoyable weekend and I look forward to catching up with you again next Friday.

Mr. Morgan.
