Here we are once more at the end of our second full week of learning in term 1 – another quick week!

It was lovely to catch-up with those of you who were able to make it to today’s ‘Meet-the-teacher’ event. There was a super buzz around class and the school. I hope that you enjoyed seeing their learning environment and seeing some of their learning on display.

In numeracy we have been looking at place value and have started completing a range of number lines and reading scales. We will continue to work on this next week too and to build on the complexity.

In PE this week we have been working on building stamina and speed. We took advantage of the good weather on Thursday and our extensive grass area to work on these PE skills. Our slower distance runs and faster sprints really took on a competitive edge as the children tried really hard to complete their challenges. Well done to all for your efforts.

In our topic this week we have looked at the location of Japan and it’s proximity to the ‘Ring of Fire’. Their learning extended into why Japan has so many earthquakes and what drills the children do there to keep themselves safe when an earthquake warning is heard. Our studies on earthquakes and Tsunamis will link in with our STEM learning too. Keep and eye on Seesaw for this in the near future. In the meantime, ask your child to discuss what they now know about earthquakes as they have really engaged in their learning in this area this week.

On Thursday we discussed the world-of-work by looking at interview skills and how they should act and prepare. This was in preparation for interviews for our Junior Leadership positions which will take place next week. Please support your child in this at home over the weekend.

Congratulations to Emily who is this week’s Social Target winner. A very well-deserved winner too.

I hope that you all have a super weekend and enjoy some well-deserved family time together. Fingers crossed for a continued good spell of weather.

Mr. Morgan.
