On Thursday, everyone had a great day participating in our Sports Day. We helped support both the upper school pupils in the morning and our infants in the afternoon. It was lovely to see so many caring actions and hear so many supportive, encouraging comments from the P7’s as they took part in the events. Well done for battling through a typical Scottish summer day too – wind, rain and sunshine!
In Literacy on Tuesday, we had looked at skills for Developing the Young Workforce. The class applied for a job in class and then had a panel interview. I think that they were quite surprised just how challenging the whole interview process can be.
The highlight of the week has to have been the visit to Dunfermline High School on Wednesday. The P7 cohort joined with pupils from Pitreavie, St Margarets and Lynburn primary schools to experience a practical lesson and meet some of their new teachers. They had a great time and there was a real buzz about class when we got back.
The class have also been working hard researching and preparing material for their Careers Fair which we will have in class in a few weeks. On Tuesday, we welcomed Euan Coote into class to give a careers talk. Euan is top level tenpin bowler who competes internationally. To help support his sporting activities, he also has his own baking company ‘Bake to Bowl’. The class asked lots of really interesting questions and were very enthusiastic listeners. They loved his visit even more when they found out that Euan had brought some of his cakes in too. Thank you, Euan, they were delicious and good luck in Belgium.
In ICT, many of the class have been completing the last remaining entries for the Code v Climate challenge and have filmed themselves describing their project. All entries have now been sent off and it’s a case of fingers crossed now for a great result.
Just a quick reminder for Monday for some of the class. The final group of pupils are heading off to Lochore Meadows, this time with pupils from Masterton PS, for the DHS Transition event. If Monday is anything like the last two visits, they will have a great time. Please ensure that those going have a full water bottle, snack and a packed lunch with them. An extra pair of socks is always a good thing to pack too just incase, as the boat trip to the island can get a little wet! The forecast for Monday is for light rain so a weather-proof coat/jacket would also be advisable.
Next week is a short week with a holiday on Friday to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Throughout next week will be full of themed events across the school – we are hoping to plan a celebration event in class for Thursday.
Congratulations to Lizzie Halley who is this week’s Social Target winner.
I hope that you all have a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
Mr. Morgan.
