P7 Update

Here we are once again at the end of another week full of learning and hard work.

In Numeracy, the class completed their work on simplifying and making equivalent fractions and are ready to move onto working with percentages and decimal fractions. Many of the class have also been working on the next round of submissions for the national Scottish Mathematical Challenge. They have carried this out over a few days and found it very tricky but showed resilience in their determination to answer the questions.

In Digital Literacy, the pupils have been working on developing their websites. These are coming along very nicely and they will share their work at the end of our topic.

In Topic, war was declared! This week we looked at the declaration of war by Britain in September 1939 following the refusal of the Germans to withdraw from Poland. The week continued by looking at the evacuation of children from the cities out to the countryside. On Thursday, we reflected on how evacuee children, of a similar age to the class must have felt when they were relocated. The class wrote letters from the viewpoint of the parent to the children and from the children back home again. Earlier in the week the class looked at writing letters from a soldier’s perspective. Some of these were very touching and heartfelt.

In Health and Wellbeing, Mrs Hay has been helping take the class through their Sports-hall Athletics Challenge and we will continue this next week too.

I hope that you have enjoyed seeing recordings on Seesaw of some of our class homework presentations. It is lovely to see so many really growing in confidence and skill when in front of an audience, or indeed a camera. If your child has not posted their recording yet please keep an eye out as these should be coming your way soon.

Congratulations to our Social Target winner Matthew Lewis.

I hope that you all have an enjoyable and relaxing weekend.

Mr. Morgan.
