Unbelievably, that’s yet another week done and dusted!  The time is just whizzing by.

In Literacy this week, we have been working on how to enhance our descriptive writing by using similes. We have found that by combining our work last week (opening a sentence using an -ly ending adverb) with our learning from this week we were making our work even better.

In Numeracy, we have continued working on multiplication and division of multiples of 10’s, 100’s and 1000’s by focusing on mental strategies. We ended the week by looking at the order of operations e.g. 3 + 4 x 2 = 11 and not 14 as many thought it should.

Our learning about Japan this week was all about Tsunamis. Japan’s location on the Ring of Fire and it being surrounded by ocean makes it prone to what the Japanese call a Tsunami or ‘Harbour Wave’. The class were shocked at just how devastating it can be.

Our STEM learning this week continued the theme of the Tsunami and the class were busy designing and building structures, in miniature, that will be able to survive a Tsunami wave. Testing of their designs will be next week – fingers crossed everyone’s model survives the great Canmore wave!

In Digital Literacy, we have been improving our technical skill and experience of using greenscreen to create informative videos. I hope that you have enjoyed seeing some of their videos on Seesaw and agree just how much learning they are taking onboard.

Finally, for the first time in a while, we had all our JLT members in school, with their school uniform on, and it was sunny day outside, so, at last, I was able to get their photographs taken. We are a very fortunate class to have so many responsible and respectful children. Way to go P7!

I hope that you all have a relaxing, enjoyable and safe weekend.

Take care,

Mr. Morgan.
