Dear parents and carers,

It's been a very busy week in P6A. For reading, we are now working in literacy groups where each of us has a role. These include being a Big Boss who chairs the reading, the Predictor, the Questioner, the Clarifier who looks up unfamiliar words and the Summariser. During these sessions the children are working on developing their fluency and expression while reading aloud.

The daily write is going well. This week, we’ve been focusing on using interesting words and phrases to add detail to our stories. It is wonderful to see many of the children are continuing to use varied openers in their writing.

We have now wrapped up our fraction learning and  have begun to explore 3D shape in mathematics, while Mrs Elvin continues to teach measure.

Our new topic is the body. We’ve covered the skeleton, it’s purpose and how to keep our bones healthy. We did a fingerprint investigation whilst we explored characteristics that are inherited and others that are unique. Adam Kay’s Anatomy is being enjoyed as our current factual class novel.

It was wonderful to be back outside for the John Muir. Our task was finding and identifying fungi to help us learn how to classify organisms.

Have a lovely weekend.

Mrs Brand and Mrs Elvin.
