Dear parents and carers of P6A,

We’ve had a good week practising our performance for the Music Festival. We are very much looking forward to our trip to the Vine on Tuesday. The winners of our recital competition are Arthur, Alyssa and Julia. Well done to them for learning the poem and reciting it with confidence. A Man’s A Man for A’ That is one of Burns’ poems about equal rights for all.

In maths we have begun the topic fractions with Mrs Brand. We are revising previous learning and moving into improper as well as proper fractions. Mrs Elvin is taking the class for measure two times a week also.

In spelling we have rounded up our learning on silent letters by focusing on silent letters in the middle of the word, such as in ‘fasten’. We are counting the sounds and syllables in each word as well as exploring the meaning of the words. We have covered speech marks in writing and are spotting the use of these in our reading as well.

Our Spanish speaking is about personal traits and follows our learning where the children drew and shared their family trees using their new vocabulary. These look great.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Brand and Mrs Elvin.
