Dear parents and carers,
It has been an exciting week week in Primary 6a during which we started our enterprise project. The children have been gathering flowers and berries and extracting the colour from them using a variety of techniques. We have tie-dyed and printed using mallets and hammers onto fabrics that have are pre-loved.

In maths, the class demonstrated their love of chimney sums and we also used number lines to help us solve addition sums and problems. Next week we will start subtraction.

We wrote our own persuasive letters, pretending to be people accused of witches in the 1600s. Our literacy circles are working well and give each child a reading session of 25 minutes where they read aloud, discuss plot lines and vocabulary and develop expression in their reading.

Monday’s science lessons, based around survival and behaviour of living things, explored capillary action of water and observation of a pine cone in different climates. Everyone enjoyed these thoroughly.

Many thanks to all who have offered to join us on our upcoming trip and for all the donations of white sheets.

Have a happy weekend,
Mrs Brand and Mrs Elvin.
