This week P6/7 have shown their strengths using descriptive language including similes and metaphors in their work.  They have been learning about a Tsunami and writing prompted by the stimulus of a great wave.

Our pupils have created their own artist impression of the Great Wave of Kanawaga and these are available to view on SEESAW.

In our Numeracy work, we have revised addition with carrying, subtraction with exchange will be our focus next week including using decimals.  In Maths, we have been learning more about Time.  We invite all pupils to create a personal timeline and share a baby photo next week which we will save and use in the P7 Yearbook 2022 Edition.

In our STEAM lessons, pupils planned and design structures that could withstand a powerful tsunami. Models have been built and next week we will test these - look out for the videos on SEESAW.

A highlight of the week was the ‘Jeans for Genes' competition organised by our friends in P5. We had a great day wearing our denim for ‘Jeans for Genes' Day and designing our jeans for a Harry Potter character.

On Monday in Gym the class are getting to enjoy a Judo taster session and on Thursday P6 pupils have organised a MacMillan Coffee Morning Fun Day - pupils are invited to dress down on this day.

Our Junior Sports Leaders have been busy helping to promote a special Race for Life event. On Friday pupils are invited to come to school in sports clothes to complete the Race for Life walk (after break with their classmates). We will be completing 6 laps of the field so please remember wellies if it is wet and a change of shoes as it is might be a little muddy. Please complete the sponsorship form to donate online if you can help support this worthy cause.

Congratulations to Freddie Lowe and Isla McLaren, our Social Target Award winners.

Homework is available to pupils to complete on SEESAW (spelling) and SUMDOG (Spelling and maths). There is also a Homework activity set through SEESAW (one each week on another subject e.g Topic/RME/Art etc) Please remind and encourage your child to complete the material set. I look forward to chatting with you at the upcoming parents evening, please contact the office if you have not yet made an appointment.

As Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are dress down I have invited pupils to wear dress down clothes Tuesday too as we will be making the most of the focus on active and healthy choices at a whole school level.

Enjoy the weekend.
