Delighted to see our class together and making the most of their learning experiences in term 4.

This week has been an incredibly busy and important week for our P7 pupils as they have completed their SNSAs and of course received their leavers Hoodies! It always amazes me how much we can pack into short weeks! We are almost half way through the final term and I am proud to share that they continue to demonstrate our school values; resilience, growing responsibility and respect in and around the school environment. Our P6's have worked with determination and have gained insight into what awaits them when it is their turn to achieve their P7 milestones after the Summer.

In Numeracy this week, we have revised and reinforced our understanding of how to create equivalent/ matching fractions using multiplication, and how to simplify fractions using division.  Pupils are encouraged to visit STUDYLADDER to support their learning.  Next week we will look at calculating a fraction of an amount e.g ¼ of 16 then ¾ of 16 on so on.  We will also be exploring division facts to strengthen our speed of recall.

In Writing, we have been creating instructions.  Monday afternoon pupils will be following instructions to design, create and improve a Bug Hotel.  Pupils will be working with Miss Williams and Mr Morgan as I will be attending a STEM course.  They will be working in groups and be supervised handling small saws and natural resources – keep an eye on SEESAW for photos!

Show rehearsals have continued and children are more comfortable and confident in their roles so the focus now is on memorising the lines and remembering stage direction and dramatic actions. Please help your child so they are able to leave the scripts behind and perform to their very best.

In Science, we continue to grow our seedlings. All pupils are asked to bring in a mug or two! as we are preparing a treat to come home. Growing plants from seeds has been a fascinating journey with pupils learning about plant function, photosynthesis, the importance and purpose of natural and chemical fertilisers and the bug hotels help pupils explore, examine and question the value of each element of our eco-system.

Congratulations to our social target winners this week Joshua Jackson & Rebecca Gibson.

Special mention to Grace, Alfie, Neeson and Delia for presenting their writing #FreeCuthbert in the reconnector to a large class audience.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever the weather!
