Friday has arrived far too fast but with the usual happy laugher, smiles all round and positive vibes throughout the school with a dress down day! The children ended the week in the high spirits we've seen all week as they embraced their time here at Canmore - some even came in their jammies but there has been no time for sleep as we've been SO incredibly busy!

Lots of learning shared on SEESAW this week so I hope you have been delighted to see the range of learning experiences shared by your child.

All pupils took part in a series of exciting STEM challenges including creating their own Superhero Poster using a design brief from Fife Council.

Both classes have been taking part in a Code v Climate competition run by the Young Engineers Scotland (YESC) . We have taught the pupils how to use block code to program a bbc microbit - they do this inside GLOW using the BBC microbit makecode tile. Please ask your child to demo their increasing skills at home! Very, very Impressive!

In our Writing we have focused on personal experiences and future careers. Pupils have been writing about their dream jobs and the perfect employee. We explored essential and desirable criteria and dug a little deeper into what makes a good workplace. This links with homework so please ensure your child completes their latest activity in SEESAW by Tuesday.  A reminder that all pupils are completing a task over 4 weeks which will be used by them in a careers fair to younger pupils in the school in June. Please ask your child about their career ideas and help them with this task as we don't want any pupils having empty boards during the fair. (boards will be provided please see the video on SEESAW that explains the homework)

In Numeracy, we have begun a block of lessons on data handling and linked this to marketing and purchasing careers.  Pupils have all consolidated their understanding of gathering raw data, graphing this and interpreting results. We will continue this next week exploring excel formula and graph options.

Our P6 readers have made super progress with Private Peaceful and are completing comprehension tasks linked to the novel.

Our P7s have been reading their scripts and are reminded that they are to practise, practise, practise so they know their lines ready to perform on stage without their scripts in hand - the show is coming along well so please save the date in your diaries! 22.6.22 at 6pm.

Congratulations to Daniel Grablewski our social target winner this week!

Some of our P7s enjoyed outdoor learning experiences organised by Dunfermline High School this week. The rest of the P7s are to attend the activities on May 30th.

Our P6 pupils and those not away completed a further block of rugby taster sessions with Matthew Wilson from Dunfermline Rugby Club - they all had the best of the weather!

A few dates for your diaries - Monday the school photographer is in so please dress smartly in full school uniform (not hoodies). Tuesday we have a Careers talk from Euan Cootes who is coming in to talk to the pupils about his bowling experiences and his business Bake to Bowl. On Wednesday our P7s are to have an early lunch as we will be walking up to Dunfermline High School for a 50minute practical session with a couple of department staff.  Thursday (Fingers crossed for good weather) is Sports Day Plan A.

I look forward to seeing you all there.

Enjoy the weekend,
P67 & Mrs Watt
