What a way to finish off the week!  Our STEM team representing all the P6/7 & P7 pupils at Canmore returned from the Dundee Science Museum  complete with the winning trophy - Primary Science Club Winners of the Year 2022!

This reflects the quality of learning across the whole P6/7 & P7 cohort on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) this year. Our team was selected at random- well done to Lilia, Rebecca Gibson, Jessica, Jack, Gregor and Matthew Kilbank who represented us at the event. Mr Morgan and I are so proud of everyone’s efforts.

Our STEM workshops continue this term with next challenge Coding Challenge. This has already started as we are now looking at how we can use and code BBC microbits in an innovative way. We will update you on Seesaw as we continue with our work – please ask your child what they are learning.

In other areas of the curriculum we have been working on algebra in Numeracy and on personal writing in Literacy. Our personal writing has had a world-of-work focus as we have been starting to prepare a C.V.

We created a personal statement identifying personal skills, qualities and achievements. This links to the homework for the term where pupils have been tasked to research and present a career fair to the P4-P6 pupils. Please support your child with this project.

There are details to follow on SEESAW. Pupils are to research a career they are interested in and to create a story board.  We will be hosting the career fair in school after the June holiday.

Please get in touch through SEESAW if you would be willing to upload a short video on your career - even better if you want to come into class to share your experiences in June.

The show rehearsals are continuing well and getting better and better all of the time. Please look out for more details of the show coming your way next week including the exciting news that every family is allocated 2 tickets to attend on the night – please save the date 22nd June 22 with a start time of approx. 6pm.  Due to restrictions we are strictly limited to 2 tickets per family to attend the live performance however a digital release will be available to view for home viewing shortly after the school performance.

Congratulations to Amber Elliot who is this week’s Social Target winner.

A wee reminder to all pupils to come prepared for learning. Some P7 children continue to attend school without a pencil to begin their lessons and time is wasted as they ask around for a pencil to use.  Please also remember to bring water bottles, particularly as the weather improves.

Enjoy the long weekend.
