Primary 67 Have focused on setting their targets and realistic steps to achieve them this week.  We have had detailed discussions about the quality and quantity of work to be completed each day to help them structure work and pace themselves. A reminder has been shared about wearing appropriate school uniform and cosy clothes depending on the weather (slippers welcomed).

In our number work some children have been completing budgeting and costing exercises using foreign exchange and we have heard from pupils who have travelled overseas and used a range of currencies. Other children have continued learning about profit and loss and best buy comparisons - this has required lots of division, multiplication, addition and subtraction and the pupils have demonstrated their developing skills and areas to improve.

In our writing pupils created news articles around the start of WW1 which they shared on SEESAW. Pupils have begun a block of lessons on presentiation skills. Each week as part of Homework pupils will be given a different aspect to develop - this week the class did well ensuring their voice projected clearly and this showed as they recited their scottish poems. Well done everyone.

In gym we learned a new dance called The St Bernand Waltz. We will be hosting a Ceilidh for the cohort next Tuesday afternoon in our gym slot and invite the pupils to wear a touch of tartan for it. We have shared previously on SEESAW that it is not a dress down day rather a dress up for the occassion so school uniform with tartan accessories or full tartan wear if you have it please to help us achieve a formal look to the event.

Our transition activities are under way and lots of questions about high school have been discussed. Mr Buchanan has been in touch to organise an MSTeams meet with the class and we look forward to the meet this term. These online sessions worked really well last session as pupils were able to regularly meet the staff through a series of online links, videos and virtual meets.

Please look out for our STEM lessons on SEESAW - we have begun our project of sustainability and the pupils were completing circuits to light an LED using wind power. We also looked at create free standing wind turbine towers. In the following weeks we hope to develop these to create floating wind turbines and welcome any donations of pool noodles which we can cut in to short pieces to help with the floatation element of the project!

Our class novel is War Horse and Chapters 1 and 2 are available to read on SEESAW. We hope to watch clips from the movie throughout the term and watch the whole movie as a cohort in term 4. Thursday is Holocaust Memorial Day and pupils will be learning a little bit about this. Understandably this is a very sensitive issue so please talk to your child about this topic/how they are feeling.  We dont delve too deep but do cover the basics.

Congratulations to Weronika Trebicka our social target winner this week.

Our pupils have shown  a lot of their learning through SEESAW. Pupils love to see their parents reply and comment on the work throughout the day.  These comments are private to your own child's work but extremely encouraging and motivational. Please get in touch if you require any help accessing the family app to ensure you are gaining insight into your child's learning journey.

Have a lovely weekend
