A happy festive end to another fantastic week at Canmore Primary School.

Our focus on Enterprise led the pupils to create their own gorgeous snowmen who now make up a wintery scene in the P6/7 Classroom and their own Christmas cards using a range of media including stencils/ sponge paint/ transfers and scrapbook materials. Could all pupils please bring in a gift bag for Tuesday to take their items home.

Pupils are to wear school uniform on Monday and are invited to wear Christmas Jumper instead of their school Jumper and festive accessories.  There is no gym on Monday due to the hall in use for p5&6 parties. JLT will be filming a school video so pupils have been asked to wear school shirt and tie but I am more than happy for them to have their Christmas jumpers on top.

Pupils have been bringing in Secret Santa gifts to share at the party on Tuesday so I want to share a few of the arrangements:

Tuesday 15th December is our Christmas Party Fun Day! Please come dressed in your party clothes as we have the hall 9-11am. We then will have a great games session in the classroom where pupils will get to play group board games.

In the afternoon pupils are welcomed to change into their pyjamas/comfy slippers to watch 'Elf'. Pupils are welcomed to bring their own snacks although individually wrapped party food is being provided by the school we welcome sweets to share if they are individually wrapped to meet regulation guidelines.

I will be giving the children wrapped selection boxes to put under their tree at home as a small gift from me as part of the seasons festivities - so look out for these on Tuesday please!  The school has provided an online pantomime to watch called Jack and the Beanstalk - We will watch this on Wednesday afternoon.  Pupils are welcomed to wear christmas jumpers for the remainder of the term with school trousers/skirts. (slippers and cosy change of footwear also welcomed).

In maths we have been online shopping and budgeting for Christmas. We are learning how to create formula in excel and how this can help us manage our finances.  I will upload the 'how to create formula in excel' ppt on SEESAW so you can reinforce this at home if you wish.

We continue to read our class novel War Horse.  We plan to watch this on the last two days of term then complete a comparison study. Please let me know if you wish to opt out of this. Anyone off on these days please watch the movie if you can over the festive break.  We will read Goodnight Mr Tom upon our return in the new year.

We elected our Junior Sports Leaders this week well done to Aiden, Joshua, Max and Neeson.

Well done to Grace Battrick who was our social target winner this week - a very difficult pick as all pupil are demonstrating school values.

Next Friday pupils will be bringing home the worksheets/jotters they have completed in class since August. This will allow you to see a small snapshot of the work they have been doing and the progres they are making. They will bring home their worksheets on Friday 18th December in a polypocket. They should then be quarantined for 72 hours before you remove them and look at them. (trays/cloakroom to be emptied before the holidays)

Have a happy and relaxing weekend
Mrs Watt.
