A massive thank you to everyone who has helped make Term 1 a remarkable one! P6/7 have enjoyed so many brilliant learning experiences together and I am going to miss them over the next fortnight!

Our pupils have all worked really well together over the course of the term and have made steady improvements in all areas of the curriculum. It has been lovely to share the highlights with so many of you at the parent appointments. I can't wait to see what Term 2 brings.

In our literacy work we have now finished reading Kensuke's Kingdom and look forward to returning for term 2 where we will begin War Horse.  Please re-read Kensuke's Kingdom with your child over the October Break. It is a really lovely story, albeit a bittersweet ending.

In our topic work we have been inspired by the main character of our class novel to paint shells and write Japanese. It was revealed in the final chapters that Kensuke was in fact a Japanese naval doctor who was onboard a ship that wrecked off the island. He spent his time painting and the pupils have had the opportunity to do the same.

In maths we have been looking at estimate and measure. We will continue to look at measurement upon our return from the holiday fortnight.

We finished off the week with our house treat for the winning house of the term – Earth. Thank you to the pupils of Earth for their efforts over the term to win housepoints and to the members of the JLT for their support helping make the afternoon treat run smoothly.

Congratulations to Lucas Edgar our social target winner.

And finally, I hope that both pupils and parents have a well-deserved rest over the next two weeks, with plenty opportunities for some family time together and a chance to switch of and rest. Term 2 is one I always look forward to ! the busy-ness of the run up to Christmas will be here in no time!

Enjoy the October break!
