An active week for our class with hockey, rugby and games filling our afternoons. Douglas Hill from the Dunfermline Carnegie Club has begun a series of hockey training sessions before he will select a team to represent Canmore at the upcoming festival. Pupils are encouraged to attend the after school hockey club on Tuesdays 3pm-4pm to improve technique and enjoy the game.

In our literacy we used our Earthquake homework as a stimulus for imaginative writing and included a wider range of connectives to help make our texts more interesting. Next week our stimulus will be Tsunami which links in with the homework research task.

In maths all pupils have greatly improved their skills in the 8x table - well done everyone and we have made progress with our place value activities.

In our topic work we have continued to explore Japanese culture and in Spanish P6/7 have been learning how to create their family tree using Spanish vocabulary.

In our reading we are now at the end of Chapter 4 and Michael has washed ashore on the Island. We have focused on our explanation skills and applied an ABCD Strategy to composing our answer to a question.
Congratulations to Jensin Hill this week's social target winner.

Highlights for your diary include Jeans for Genes Day Friday. Our P4 classes are organising a fundraiser supporting this charity by raising awareness of genetics whilst having a little fun in our school. Pupils are invited to dress up in denim for the day and donate to the cause if they can. A suggested donation of 50p per child.

Please check your emails for information from the school on the new Parents Portal. Bookings have now opened for parents evening appointments and I look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.

Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Watt & P67
