Another week has flown by and our class have shown how well they understand the school values as they completed tasks linked to the national Anti-bullying week.

On Monday we began by watching the One Kind Word resources Anti-Bullying Week 2021: One Kind Word (anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk) Pupils created wordles packed with positive vocabulary and reflected on their own small acts of kindness throughout the day. Tuesday we explored Digital Wellbeing and many pupils discovered they were a little too attached to the devices in their lives. Everyone agreed that cyber safety is essential and that kindness in our world is very important. Wednesday and Thursday we researched the history of Children in Need and on Friday had lots and lots of fun as we gained awareness and raised funds for this charity in our PJs!

In our number work we reinforced our short division skills and some of the pupils undertook long division tasks learning to use the strategy Divide/Multiply/Subtract/BringDown which you can discuss with your child further at home. We will be looking at fractions next week.

In our grammar we looked at inference using picture cues and the pupils have learned that the way the see something is influenced by their own experiences, prior knowledge and how they connect with the world around them - this has meant some very different viewpoints have been shared when looking at the same photo.

In our digital photography lessons we continued with leading lines and will be looking at different frame shots next Tuesday (depending on weather) we will be outside in the school grounds. Please remind your child to dress appropriately for the weather.

We are nearing the end of our Japan topic and pupils have almost finished their SWAY projects - keep your eyes out for these on SEESAW. A wee reminder please ensure you have connected with the school and can view your child's work - get in touch with the school office if you need any help with this. We are approaching the end of our novel so please read to the end of Chapter 9 over the weekend if you are reading along with us.

It's nearly the time of year when we think about peace, harmony, love and maybe Angels? You may have recently seen on Facebook that Dunfermline Churches and Community groups are bringing a little angelic presence to the city centre and our pupils have been asked to contribute by decorating a set of angel wings to be included in a community project on in the Kingsgate - look out for your child's design in the weeks ahead! Dare I say it... Christmas is fast approaching and our class will begin their Winter Wonderland Enterprise project. We are looking for any small and light christmas decorations eg baubles (especially ribbon) to help with this year's seasonal project so please have a look in the back of cupboards and drawers and donate any bits and bobs that the class can use to get creative in December.

Congratulations to Callum Sorial our social target winner.

As parents I hope you find viewing your child's working interesting and engaging.  Pupils are now confident recording voice comments explaining their learning and we welcome parent feedback on the learning being shared. Instead of photographing each piece of work they complete pupils are now being more specific and selecting pieces of work they wish to talk about - so please login to SEESAW and celebrate their acheivements with them.

On a final note, Enjoy these dark starry nights if you can and wrap up warm as winter is definitely on its way.

Enjoy your weekend,
Mrs Watt
